Real World Poker Tells

When playing poker offline, against friends, family or in poker clubs, you can use tells to get a read on what your opponents are holding. You should also be aware of the tells, so you don't give away the strength of your own hand!

(1) Strong is Weak, Weak is Strong - most players except professionals, will usually act weak when they have a strong hand, and strong when they have a weak hand. This is a natural tell which most players do time and time again. If they have a really good hand they may look disinterested, act like they forgot it was their turn etc. If they have a bad hand that they are trying to bluff, they will raise their voice and try to look intimidating.

(2) The eyes - the eye's are a big giveaway, which is why many professionals wear dark glasses. watch a player's eyes closely where you can for any give aways.

(3) The face - again facial expressions can be a give away. some player's may be unable to hide their happiness at a good hand, and unhappiness when they are caught out. again for this reason many professionals wear caps, and stare down at the table during hands, so they don't give anything away.
